The new year has started with a flourishing panto season across the borough and next week, The Revels Drama Group is set to hit the stage at Knowle Village Hall with this year’s annual pantomime, Beauty and the Beast.

Based on the traditional tale, but with some similarities to the Disney classic, this new version by Alan P. Frayn brings the story of Beauty and the Beast well and truly into the realm of pantomime.

The show will feature all the staples of the British tradition, and with a host of modern and classic song numbers, there’s something for everyone. The Revels are also joined by dancers from Rochelle School of Dance.

Musical Director Chris Cooper said, “We’re very lucky to have such a young and enthusiastic cast this year. Everyone’s been working hard to create a truly enjoyable and original production.”

The cast includes Ellie Royle as Belle, Matt Barnard as Prince Danton/The Beast, Chloe Thomas and Jacob Lamb as Marcel and Monique, along Revels regular Dave Pinwell as the pantomime Dame, Madam Fifi.

Director Pauline Murdoch said, “The annual panto takes over a year of preparation, but it’s worth every minute. After a rotten summer, we want our audiences to come and have a laugh and forget about the rain and the snow!”

Beauty and the Beast plays from Thursday 24th to Saturday 26th January at 7:30pm, with matinee performances on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th January at 2:30pm. Tickets can be booked from the Box Office on 01564 770032 or a limited number will be available on the door. Tickets are £8 for adults, £7 for concessions and £6 for members.
